Graduated in 2011... have been working in the film industry full time for 5 years now. Bottom line; technically specific courses like sound design, game design are almost a must in getting a job in the industry... other faculties are basically useless as you can start work as a PA and learn on the job. Results matter only in what you put in. The industry is an absolute grind to start out in but well worth it once you've paid your dues. I started as a PA, got my days and finished a TAD course recommended by the DGC. I also worked as a IATSE sound assistant (what I went to VFS for) and I am a full member of Teamsters. Work hard, learn smart and don't give up. VFS can be a vital tool but can also be a total waste of money depending on the field you want to work in.

I graduated from the film production program in 2007 and found a job almost right away. I landed in LA and began working as a Production Assistant on the show Desperate Housewives and other shows. I have to say, VFS helped me fit right in and gave me the skills and industry knowledge I needed to grow. I really enjoyed my time there and think it's a great place to learn art, camera and assistant directing.

I've been working in the film industry for 6 years now. For technical courses, VFS is a no-brainer. Sound design, game design, camera, etc., are harder to learn on the job than others which you can learn through the day-to-day grind of working on set. I enjoyed VFS and learned the technical skills I needed to get my start as a PA, then eventually a sound editor. Biggest advice to anyone considering VFS is to make sure you know what you want to do in this industry and not waste time here if you have your sights on being a director or writer.
