I wanted to learn more about Machine Learning but due to working full-time, my options were limited. The YorkU course was feasible because I only had to go on location during the weekend (for the most part). In about 8 months of intense studying, I now feel like I have the tools necessary to excel in the field of ML and AI. I gleaned practical knowledge which I am able to apply at my current work. Also, I now have a portfolio having completed several projects during the course of the program. I would recommend this course to anyone who is interested in getting into the field but has found self-study and online learning to be somewhat lacking. It’s a vast field and I have to keep learning every day but I feel that the course has given me the confidence to learn on my own moving forward.

I really enjoyed my time at YorkU SCS. The program Director and professors were passionate and very knowledgeable. The staff are also very supportive and will help you with anything you need. The best part was meeting motivated classmates who pushed me to learn and network. Thanks to #YUSCS!

This has been by far the most horrible and disappointing experience. A $10 course on Udemy will teach you far more than this course. If you are really motivated to change your career, this certificate is NOT the right platform. This is nothing but a money-grab for the university. 80% of the course was just one slide after another. Out of five just one teacher (1020) made an effort and provided a decent education. Towards the end The Capstone project experience was pretty bad as well. It was conducted very unprofessionally. So far I've had few interviews and as long as you can crack the coding challenge and have couple of projects on GIT under your belt, no one gives a crap about whether you have this so called certificate from the university.

I'm on course 2 of 5. I opted for this offering as it was relatively quick, and I needed online. You will do best in this certificate if you are good at learning by reading. It is very light on lectures so far, and very heavy on reading (either online texts or paper options). It is also rather automated, so most of the human interaction is with your fellow classmates. The purpose of the instructors appears to be to record brief podcasts (8-30 minutes per week) that can be used over and over until they need to be updated. The instructors also give credibility to the courses by displaying their backgrounds in the field. Likely they may even do marking. One great way of bonding with your fellow classmates is to complain about the learning platform, Moodle, but we do so in external channels (such as Discord, WhatsApp, email) as those are faster than using the Forum and you can swear to your hearts content.

Diverse class and great teachers with industry experience who are in your corner and want you to succeed! I took the fundamentals and advanced certificates which are six months each. There's a new short intensive program. It's more expensive, I think $15,000, but I would recommend that if you want to qualify for global certifications ICS2, CISSP, etc.
